A Learning Playground for Entrepreneurs: My Awesomeness Fest Experience
When I tell people I attended an event called Awesomeness Fest, I usually get one of two reactions: “Wow, that sounds epic!” or “What is that all about?” If you’re in the first group, this post is for you.
Imagine an island paradise in Phuket, Thailand, where over 260 entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries gather for a transformational experience. That’s Awesomeness Fest (A-Fest)—a space designed for innovation, personal growth, and meaningful connections.
What is Awesomeness Fest?
A-Fest is described as the ‘ultimate transformational experience for entrepreneurs’—a gathering of visionaries committed to personal growth and making an impact. It’s an event where deep conversations, world-class learning, and extraordinary experiences all blend into one.
Behind it is Mindvalley, a revolutionary publishing and education company founded by Vishen Lakhiani. In his opening remarks, Vishen joked that in addition to bringing great minds together, he created A-Fest because he was simply bored! Apparently, running multiple multi-million dollar companies wasn’t enough of a challenge. Mindvalley, which grew from a $700 startup to a $20M+ company in under a decade, is on a mission to change how organizations are run and create the world’s best workplace by 2020. Their passion was woven into every detail of this event.
Why I Attended
I had followed Mindvalley’s work for years and first heard about A-Fest in 2012. As soon as I read about it, I knew I had to go! But at the time, I didn’t feel ready to fully invest in the experience. So I waited. Two years later, I finally made it.
For me, A-Fest was about:
~ Meeting like-minded entrepreneurs creating change around the world.
~ Challenging my own beliefs and returning more confident in my vision.
~ Celebrating my successes so far and gaining fresh inspiration for the future.
~ Exploring self-mastery techniques—meditation, mindset, and what Mindvalley calls consciousness hacking.
What Make it Transformational?
1) Deep Connection & Conversations
The beauty of A-Fest isn’t just the speakers or the content—it’s the people. The event is structured to create the perfect balance of learning and connecting, whether in a workshop setting or while dancing barefoot on a private island. As entrepreneur Khailee Ng put it: “I can easily dance and talk business at the same time.” That’s the kind of environment A-Fest creates.
The attendees come from all walks of life—some are freelancers, others run companies, and many are at the edge of taking the leap into entrepreneurship. What unites them is an open mind and a love for inspiration.
One of my biggest takeaways? Listen more than you talk. The best insights often come from simply being present in the right conversations.
The connections were so powerful that I extended my stay in Thailand by another eight days—I knew that beyond the event, the friendships and collaborations would be just as valuable.
2) Shifts In My Mindset
When you travel across the world for an event, you expect world-class speakers. Mindvalley delivered.
The event featured TED-style talks and interactive workshops with thought leaders like:
- Lisa Nichols – A transformational speaker whose session was truly life-changing.
- Kute Blackson – A powerful coach on self-mastery and living with purpose.
- Sam Cawthorn – A motivational speaker with an incredible personal journey.
- Vishen Lakhiani – Mindvalley’s visionary founder, sharing disruptive insights on business and leadership.
- Khailee Ng – A successful tech entrepreneur with a refreshingly unconventional approach.
What set this event apart was that the speakers weren’t just presenting from a stage—they were fully part of the experience. They sat in the audience, joined conversations, and immersed themselves just like everyone else. This level of authenticity set the tone for deep engagement.
Each attendee resonated with different content, but one thing was universal—the speakers who truly owned their message and showed up authentically were the ones who left the biggest impact.
Quickfire Reflections
1. What was my personal highlight?
Lisa Nichols’ Angel Walk activity—so real and transformational. Special thanks to Margaret for making it magical! A lot of emotion moved through me. At the far end of the ‘alternative/woo-woo’ scale and brilliant to experience!
2. What was my biggest takeaway?
To fully own my way of doing things. To be confident that the world needs my unique brand of magic!
3. Who was your favorite speaker?
Lisa Nichols—she was deeply connected to the audience, and everything she said resonated.
4. What was the funniest moment?
Inventing the “Crab Dance” on the last night! On a private island, we laughed for hours over an idea that was both hilarious and unexpectedly powerful.
5. Was it worth the time and money?
Absolutely. Investing in your education is invaluable, and this experience exceeded my expectations. The format was brilliant, the location made it extra special, and the people I met—I’m sure I’ll be working with many of them in the future.
Final Thoughts
Awesomeness Fest isn’t just an event—it’s an experience. A launchpad for ideas, collaborations, and personal breakthroughs.
Then A-Fest is something you should explore. Thank you to Mindvalley for setting the stage, to the speakers for their wisdom, and to everyone I met for making it truly unforgettable.
